for reals this time
Jun. 12th, 2023 02:08 pmmister & child got home pretty late on saturday night, so we stayed up a bit to get our chatting out of the way and went to sleep around 1:30 a.m. i was so happy to have them back! i realized sunday morning that i don't sleep as well when they're gone.
i also realized i can't cook for one worth a shit and refuse to even do it anymore. if i'm ever on my own again, i'm getting hello fresh. *nod*
overall, the trip was a success but we're still waiting for a final foundation/structural inspection to make the next offer official. multiple people have said that there is no structural damage, although a few floor joists MIGHT need some love. apparently, in the original part of the house, the floor joists were made with hand hewn lumber which poses some unique problems in the long run. as long as the top story is structurally solid and not slipping or sliding (and unofficially, it's not), we should be fine. my guess is we'll need to do the shit you do when a house is sinking on a corner (it's 100 years old...sagging is to be expected) and once we get the estimate on that and replacing the septic tank and updating the electrical panel, we'll go back into negotiation on price and go from there.
none of us want to lose this house, so we're going to make it happen. fighting!
