the darkest before the light
Dec. 21st, 2024 03:02 pmhey russia. remember the winter war?

+ mister and his family are finnish and other viking spawn , so many of those traditions are finding their way far more into our day-to-day lives. tonight we've been invited to a solstice celebration with a bonfire and sauna and mead — we're going to go, but not until AFTER kid and i attend a solstice event at a wellness center (read: hippie yoga studio).
here's a description of the event:
Come and join Christine and Natalie in welcoming the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, and the returning of the light. The longest night is indeed a potent time to pause and reflect on the year that has passed. When we align with the Wheel of the Year and flow with wild wisdom of the solstice, we invite ourselves to dwell thoughtfully in the close comfort of the womb-like darkness, and make preparations for the rebirth of the sun. This is a magnificent opportunity to release your intentions for the coming year, or release any disappointments or regrets from this current year.
In this 90 minute class you will be guided through gentle restorative yoga poses, bathed in healing sound, led through a guided meditation, given a juicy light massage of your upper back, neck, shoulders, and face allowing complete surrender and deep relaxation as you release any lingering tension from the year.
If you feel called to bring something to add to the Yule Log altar, please do. There will be hot apple cider to enjoy in community when the class is finished.
