sick chicken and busy days

~ one of our OG chickens is sick with something — possibly egg bound, possibly an impacted crop, possibly vent gleet, possibly all or none of the above. so we've been taking care of her and keeping her away from the other girls. 

hopefuly she'll rally and be fine — if she doesn't and isn't, it won't be for lack of trying to help her on our part. 

~ the worry for the chicken didn't stop all the things needing to be done, so between attending to the feathery patient, there were the farm chores and prep to can the first green bean harvest. 

i'm still terrified of pressure canning, so my mood has been wonky all through the day. as soon as i either get it done or blow up the house, i'll feel better.

we went kayaking again on sunday and the four hour route was way harder than the previous time. we were up against a wind that kept blowing us sideways and about halfway through i was wondering if i was going to make it lol. but, i did. :) not only did i make it, but we beat our last time by about 30 minutes or so. the river was low and bony rivers = more rocks to get caught on. blech! 

we ended up using the new paddles we got for ourselves, and they made SUCH a difference! now all we need are our floatie jackets and the kayacks themselves. come on, sales...hook a sister up.
