disneyland works wonders

liminal_space* yesterday, we took 37 middle school students to disneyland. for many of them, it was the very first time they'd ever been there. for others, they hadn't been since they were super little. we did a three hour tour that focused on branding and marketing, and it was amazing.
i, of course, made besties with the cast member leading the tour/adventure and found out all sorts of things i didn't know about the park. it was great for me! plus, it was great for the kids: there were rapt faces that were -really- clueing in on what he was saying. some of my really high kids had this lightbulb go on when they realized how big and amazing the world is -- and how many possibilities actually exist beyond what they know.
so. amazeballs.
and i'm so thankful we could make this happen for them!
* coming home from dl was not as fun. we were facing the possibility of fwy closures due to the most recent storm, but we made it home. Mister and kidlet decided to stay with me in work-town, so they procured a hotel room for us and came for me when the bus landed at school. this morning, instead of getting up at 4:30, i slept in until 6:15. woah! everyone felt good about that!
if we had come home last night, we couldn't have made it to work this morning. the fwy we take to work was closed from 5 a.m. until a little after noon. we left work-town at 4:30 to come to home-town and it was sloshy and icy looking and getting in the driveway was slightly adventurous.
i don't think we'll be going anywhere tomorrow, and i already put in for a sub.
so, instead of work, i'll be building snowmen and snowwomen and nonbinary snow people (don't ask me, we'll figure it out) tomorrow. =D NOICE.
* i'm really tired from all the field trip stress and the weather stress, so tonight is going to be an early-assed night. for real, y'all. for real.
