so the twelve year old child has decided she wants to read anna karenina and i'm all "wtf?" and she's all "yah!" and i'm all "you're crazy, but ok."

i have a love/hate relationship with the russians (where, when i say "russians", i am specifically speaking of russian authors....and only russian authors of "the classics"), and find their beautiful stories hard to tease out of the heavy translations and so much darkness. but who am i to deny her the opportunity to dive in?

she read part of the first chapter today and liked it. she also said, "man, this family has some weird problems....they're crazy."

i rapped back, "and you're only on page 1."

=D

.

i'm still doing pilates 2x and am seeing changes. saturday, i was getting on the horse and husband said "wow, you look so much smoother doing that!" and i felt smoother! =D i joke that i didn't know i had abs until the trainer started torturing them. then they're there. :( jerks.

one of the biggest and most impressive benefits of just 2x a week is that my shoulders -- always painful and weak -- and getting so much better! i can SLEEP now, on my side, with no medicine. =D love love love love.

i wish i could say that i am seeing the difference in my riding (besides just getting on), but we've had such bad weather that riding has been nonexistent. :( and when i rode on saturday, i was so wonky with being back in the saddle that i wasn't as self aware bodywise as i usually am.

this week i should get in a few more rides, so i'll see how things go then.

.

i'm currently taking an online class and the first five weeks were easy-peasy. now it's hardy-wardy and i do not like. there are only four more weeks to go, thank goodness, and then i'm all certified to teach this specific class. yay me!

i keep waffling about going back to school for my master's degree, but don't think it will be worth it $$ wise. i should figure that out before i retire. lols :(

speaking of which, our portfolio of crypto currency did not make us gazillionaires. we invested $100 about a year ago and have cashed out for about $1300. :) pretty good little investment! i think we still have part of a bitcoin, but am not sure; Mister said something about holding on to it "just to see" what happens. oh, well. :)

.

i have to go get blood work during lunch. there are a few problems that need to get checked out, so...ugh. i went for lab work last week, but the bitch that was sticking me was complaining about how it wasn't her usual work space, and she couldn't find anyone, and it was hot in there, and i had veins that kept disappearing, and blah blah blah.

hopefully today will be easier.

the second we're done, one way or the other, i'm getting:

1. cappuccino extra hot
2. venti pineapple black tea
3. del taco

*nod*

i deserve it. =D

.

ok. it's time for me to head out.

have that good day!

I've tried really hard to understand crypto currency. I get the 'mechanics' of mining coins, and all that kind of stuff. But, somehow I just can't get my head around the concept of using these coins to buy stuff. It reminds me of the beany baby phenomenon years ago........ people were prepared to pay $$$$$ for certain beanies, even though they had no intrinsic value.

*shrug*

It's kind of like "Read Watership Down, they said. It's a book about bunnies, they said."

I found Anna Karenina to be a slog to get through. I got mad because there were multiple Alexi's and it was hard to keep them straight. For god's sake, give everyone a distinct name, even if it's something whacky like Renesme.

i can't get my head around it either! it's magic, fake money! but it became real, not-fake money, so i'm cool with things.

at one point, he was mining for it and we got like $20 worth of CC in a week -- with the cost of electricity, just wasn't worth it.

i remember picking that book up in 6th grade, thinking "wow, this is a BIG book about rabbits! great!", then being traumatized by it. *twitch*

I get the concept that 'work' is involved in mining the coins. And therefore the coins can be exchanged for cash or goods. But, like you, I still think of it as fake money.

No idea, but it's very true.
