COVID drama #1

— trainerfriend tested positive on saturday for the virus. she had been at a horse event friday night dressed as mrs. claus. the event was at one of the places the kid works (job #1). kid informed job #2 that there was POSSIBLE exposure @ the event (did not mention names) and she wouldn't be able to come to work until she was tested. job #2 promptly touched bases with job #1 and job #1 wasted no time contacting trainerfriend with "seija said there was exposure at the event! what do you know?"

this caused trainerfriend to jump our shit about not spreading her business, then backpedaling when we explained no one said her name at all, but it's WHAT THE KID IS SUPPOSED TO DO when exposed.

.....and she never fessed up to anyone that she tested positive.

i do love trainerfriend, i really do. but damn. genius with horses and one of the most intuitive people i've met, but a fucking idiot at times. lol

— drama #2 of the COVID came when kid took her first nose swab test. you would have thought we were sticking an on-the-vine-too-long summer zucchini up her nose to her brain. i tried not to laugh, but the face she was making was hilarious.

two more lbs gone away. atta girl, girl...atta girl. this week i'm officially working on more water and more sleep and keeping at the things i've been working on the past few weeks.

there are going to be a couple of days in the next few weeks where staying in an "all things in moderation" zone are going to be next to impossible: mister's making french macarons, finnish spice cookies, and cranberry-orange scones for the gift tins. i'm thinking about making either christmas chex mix OR puppy chow (love that stuff so much), but it's still up in the air. because i'm not working, the # of THINGS we have to give have decreased dramatically.

on one hand? that makes me sad. :( on the other? it doesn't. :)

we DO have plans pretty solid for christmas dinner (hot pot). i'm going to make chicken and dumplings, black eyed peas, and cornbread for new year's day. for christmas eve, i think i'm going to fork over too much money and get us a charcuterie board. or make us one.

or something. OH WAIT....maybe i can find some tamales to buy. =D (just put mister on it!)

last week of school before winter break. we're all looking forward to it, i think!

one set of her friends (kids of OUR friends) won't be able to come over because their parents are super sick and tested positive. this is their 2nd round of covid and they're fully vaccinated, so i just don't get it. maybe one of her other friends can come visit a day or two — something to keep her from feeling super isolated.

at least on one day, i want to just hang by the fire with her and do a puzzle. she never lasts long on those, but she always seems to find where the weirdest pieces go. gotta love her and her many talents.

i am volunteering at the tack shop two days this week because the people who run it have — you guessed it — the covid. this is the place i'm going to sell my geedunks, so it is worth it. i plan on taking the ipad, laptop, a book, a carafe of coffee, and having a good ol' time. =D FUN!

the days i'm working kid gets out at noon, so she and mister will bring me lunch and visit for a bit. the hours are 10-5, so it's not horrid. i'll live! :)

I'm a weirdo who hates chocolate, so I make white chocolate puppy chow and it is SO GOOD. Now you've got me wanting to make that lol.
