livejournal is still working, so yay. :) backing up stuff to DW is working too, so yay on that; lots of years of entries now duplicated somewhere else makes me feel a little easier.

what is not yay is the snark going around about people who actually made secondary accounts. i need a virtual t-shirt that says "don't be a dick -- it's unbecoming". NONE of us know what's going to happen with threats of "shutting down the internet" -- what we all need to understand is that it is possible and not hard to do. mister explained it to me in ways i could understand (explain it to me like i'm 5) and it made sense.

and really, i have always understood the risk of keeping so much of my life in one virtual place...i have forever thought i should figure a way to backup my content here, but just never have. same with my paper journals, but there's no easy fix on that.

we all did some thrift store shopping today and kid got some really adorable stuff. i found a few things to try and resell (a pair of reebok golf shoes and a women's set of reebok athletic wear; a pair of levis; a few ball caps) and want to get those up by monday. none of the things i got will be big money makers, but like i told mister, "if i saw $20 on the ground, would i pick it up?" and the answer is yes. all of the things combined, if our pricing is right, will bring about $80 after fees and shipping.

i'd totally pick that up off the ground.

we also picked up a few books, even though i'm a little ugh about used books in general. all of them were in "maybe read one time" shape (i can TELL these things...books speak to me) and were $1 each, so i am just going to pretend i got them on the b&n bargain table and not worry about human detritus sprinkled on the pages.

i groomed the boy yesterday and was covered in dakota by the time i was done. sheesh, he's a monkey boy. there's going to come a time soon when i have my 16.2hh dressage/obstacle/trail/endurance horse and i'm going to look back on this sweet, quiet time with dakota with fondness. i'm looking forward to that time, but am working hard to just be in the moment.

so the fritters last night were a-ma-zing! i made tahini sauce, couscous, and mediterranean cucumber salad -- everything was just so good together! i thought about asking mister to get some chicken shawarma to go with it, but meh. not worth the drive. next time i make it though...next time.

tonight? leftovers, maybe. we're a little low on food things at the moment, so not sure what we'll do. mister has to go help with a hay delivery at the barn, so takeout is...out. he's helping build a fence tomorrow and sunday, so he'll be whipped then, too. o.O fudge, i need to figure out groceries then.

maybe i'll just get up early tomorrow and go get it out of the way. then again, today was enough humanity for me for awhile.

I love thrift store shopping I can always find something I like. I can't resist the used books either. Although I try to find gently used ones.

The fritter meal sounds delicious.

Hailey and I go to the half off days at the Goodwill. Lots and lots of nice things at its oldest, and must under appreciated location. I will appreciate it in silence.

I've always kept a mirror copy of my LJ on Dreamwidth, plus another copy in Google Drive just in case.

I have not seen any snark, but then I have always said that my flist is awesome and I have a really happy, comfy corner of fandom. That was the case even when there were a lot more people active, too.

Whenever I get used books, either from the library or from a Little Free Library, I always open them and give them a visual scan. Then I turn them spine up and give them a good shake. I am so bug phobic that it just makes me feel better. Have never had an issue.

giving a shake is a smart idea!

and i'm super glad you didn't have to deal with any snark — it was mild and passing on this end, but it was still there. ;)
