i could run away, but i'd rather stay....
Jun. 1st, 2023 12:57 pmi have an internal and very private play list in my head that is, basically, the soundtrack of my life. this song is one that nests in the palm of my hand when i think about the mister:
it's 1 p.m. and i'm just now finishing my first cup of coffee. it's a travesty, i tell you...a travesty. i'm going to have one more before the end of the day which will, most likely, mess up my sleeping but since i haven't been sleeping well anyway, it's a moot point. what are you going to do?
[ok, so maybe what you could do is NOT DRINK COFFEE THIS LATE, but whatever.]
yesterday i finished reading now is not the time to panic. here's part of the review from that link:
A bold coming-of-age story, written with Kevin Wilson’s trademark wit and blazing prose, Now Is Not the Time to Panic is a nuanced exploration of young love, identity, and the power of art. It’s also about the secrets that haunt us—and, ultimately, what the truth will set free.
bold? wit? blazing prose? nuanced? to whomever wrote that: i do not think those words mean what you think they mean. still, it was a nice slice of restaurant pie and i enjoyed some of it very much.
next up is hidden pictures, which got a lot of good press early summer of 2022 and has been on my list since. it's a spooky story, which sometimes means good press = mediocre writing that seems great in a sea of bad genre writing, but not always...so i'm there for you book. i'm there for you.
so what are YOU reading? :)

i should be working on this month's budget, but i think i'm just going to do it tomorrow. my brain is not in the mathmood, so i'm going to let it take the day off. but this is the last day it gets to slack: stuff is happening over the next three months that is just going to make me pay attention to the calendar. feh.
this sunday, kid is riding with a new group — her anxiety has been so off the charts that i actually reached out to a local equine-assisted therapy group to see if they had some slots open for her. they do, so she's going on sunday. i had a nice chat with the woman who runs it and, of course, our circles bump in a variety of places so she actually knows who the kid is. not only will she be working with the horses, the lady offered her extra time to help with lessons for other kids. my little is great with stuff like that, so she's excited.
she just needs some horse time, you know?
on tuesday of next week, mister and kid are leaving me for five days to go back to wisconasotta for the inspection, walk the property, and take better photos of the kitchen (project number 1A) and the upstairs basement (project number 1B). we ended up going with a credit union back there and WOW...much better rates and products available. :)
june 14th, she's starting her summer session of college.
the last week of june, mister is flying to san francisco for a few days to meet his new primary client and junk. in august, he's going to portland for a week for a company team building thing. with what they'll be paying for flights for the team + hotels + food, they should have just gone to hawaii. :) WITH SPOUSES, of course.
[sidebar: i was talking to mister about how hawaii is one of the places i'd LOVE to live if we could afford to live like we're living now. he reminded me how i hate the cockroaches there and i let that idea go.]
anyway, with all of this MOVEMENT happening, i have to account for $$ for flights and inspections and snack money and new clothes and stuff like that.
and we have to pack and secure movers and get our house listed to sell and and and and. ugh.
i would say i'm leaving right now to go do the packing and cleaning and junk, but it'd be a lie. i'm going to load the dishwasher and read my book. =D
