Looking Forward to Life on the Farm
Jun. 26th, 2023 12:32 pmi have this idea of eventually opening up the farm for "life on a farm" experiences, where guests pay me money to do farm chores. it's such a brilliant idea in theory, right? and if happened to get real lucky? this is who my clientele would be:
it finally feels like mental pieces have been organized and i'm ready to tackle getting this house ready for sale. how three people can be as chaotic as we are in our living space defies all reason, but it's ok. it is what it is and nothing i can do will allow me to go back in time and tell past us to stop being so....us.
anyway, i'm working on the master bath today and tomorrow. because it's more than just tidying up, i'm giving myself two days...well, two part days because here is is 11:21 a.m. and i'm just now getting out of the shower and having a second cup of coffee.
to be fair, i was awake at 7 because kid has a job helping out at a horse camp for the next four mornings. she's getting paid minimum wage circa 1938, but she doesn't care — horses and horse kids make her happy.
it's super busy for her right now, so she's not going to have to do anything but her basic chores this week. today and wednesday, she has a d&d session with a friend visiting from virginia, she's got summer school, she's working MTWTh, and she's trying to keep up with friends from old school by playing video games together.
she'll be home in about 30 minutes, so i started artichokes for lunch. yum. they have been on sale at costco at 4 large ones for $6, so every week we're going through eight. i do hope they have them back in minnesconsin.

it's going to be HOT this weekend! my little mountain place rarely gets above 90, but we're in the high nineties for a number of days. i told mister that on those days, all work will need to be done early morning or early evening, because during the hot hours? i'm going to be in a dark, closed room with the AC on watching movies and sipping iced tea. *nod*
i checked the weather back where we're moving and it will be in the very low 80s at the hottest. of course when you factor in humidity.....
there's a joke where i used to live (and here, to a degree) that when it gets hot (like the 113 degree hot) we say "at least it's a dry heat." like that somehow makes it better. then again, i remember walking out of the atlanta airport in the middle of summer and turning around and walking back into the terminal because the humidity felt like a physical wall that i ran into head on. my friend teresa had to tell me to put my big girl panties on, because i was shaking my head NO at the idea of going out into that nonsense.
but once i got used to it, i didn't die! :) i even went OUT into the heat and humid on purpose with my friend monkeyboy.
