mister is sick with a cold, so he had some of my ginger lemon concoction and i'm making him chicken noodle soup today. i may also make some homemade bread (because that's what we do on my as-of-yet-unnamed homestead!) to go along with it since a) i need to get better at making bread and 2) bread.

we have to get him all better since he's leaving next thursday morning until saturday night for the bay area — his company is flying him out to meet with a client (thursday) and for their christmas party (friday). i wonder how close he'll be to city lights? i would not mind a bookbag from there.

rocking and rolling in the midnight solitude-bench ... dream of life a nightmare, bodies turned to stone.

my little tumble down the stairs resulted in me having two days of discomfort...then i was fine. i like to think i'll be this resilient always, but yeah...that probably won't happen.

that's why my next horse is going to be one that will sign an agreement where he (or she) promises to not go sideways on me when i don't expect it. if i expect it? that's ok. but i also want written confirmation he (or she) will promise not to do things which would cause me to expect it.

not too much to ask, thank you.

we are hoping to put up the just-for-this-year christmas tree tonight, but with mister feeling bad, dunno. my hope was mexican hot chocolate, a scary christmas movie, and twinkle lights....but it can wait a few days if it has to.

he got the lights up on the house and i swear, it looks like a little gingerbread house! i think i want to riff on this motif next year and make some gingerbread men and women out of plywood to put in front of the house. i would like them to have bites out of them...and knives....and have them fighting in a gingerbread person fight club.

but i imagine i'll get outvoted on that. :(

anyway, the tree. we had to give up our 9.5 foot tree (we had 25 foot ceilings in the old house) and can only get a 7.5 for here. =\ that makes me sad, but it is what it is. i have plenty of tall trees outside i could decorate if i wanted. and next year i will want. this year, we're going to use one of the trees we got on clearance a few years ago — i have no idea why we got them, but they're white.

i dig the idea of white trees (aluminum would be what i really would want), but i would like pink and teal baubles on it and we don't have any of those. so we may need to shop so i can have my pink and teal tree. *nod* shush.

while we can't go over the top in decorating this year (i'm still trying to figure the space here), we can make it nice. or tacky, i like it both ways.

ok. time to get going and doing.

be well, my pretties.
