so i gave you people that focaccia recipe and none of you have made it. :P that's ok, i'm going to make more this week (or next, kid wants cornbread this week, but that could change) and use the triple zero flour and that will satisfy my need to see loaves of focaccia. =D

one of my favorite movies of all times is "mildred pierce" with she of the cheekbones and eyebrows, joan crawford. one of my favorite limited series is "mildred pierce" with she who survived the titanic sinking. what i really like, when i consider the two together, is how different they are and how much i still really love them. i need to reread the novel at some point in time soon, because it's been a hot minute. 

speaking of books, i want to take this moment to say that almost every book is better than film/tv adaptations. i believe this to be 99.999999% true. the one exception in my mind? /jaws/. 

worst. fucking. book. EVER. you seriously ROOT for the shark in that book and feel  bad when he dies without eating everyone on that damn island. if only he'd have been a land shark delivering a candygram.

fam is out for a ponyclub event (they're going bowling — this is kid's first time meeting everyone, so i hope that they're nice and that she has fun) and i'm here so old man onslow has a caregiver. while he is doing SO MUCH BETTER with the ketamine and daily medicine, it's still obvious that he's not going to be with us for as long as we'd like. 

he can't get down the house stairs to the bottom floor where the outside door is, so we have to walk him out off the deck (less stairs and they're wider) every few hours in the day for little walkabouts and potty breaks. 

it's not convenient to have to do this and makes leaving for long periods difficult, but we're going to do it as long as we need to.

whilst (i am adopting whilst to replace while every other day) they're gone, i'm going to work on february's bullet journal spread, do some homeschool prep for kid, and just get some quiet planning done. 

the weather this coming week is going to be really nice! i'm not going to have to not wear a coat out of principle and will be able to single layer for the most part. the one thing that is becoming slightly treacherous is ice and i'm thinking i need crampons for walking. o.O 

it's WEIRD. the untouched snow is safe, but where cars have gone or where i've snowblown (ha), it's all flat and slick and dangerous. this is now how snow is supposed to be based on my experience. (yesterday i had my fauxuggs on and pretended i was ice skating...NOT SAFE, WOMAN.)

but with the weather warming up in the day and staying freezing at night, it's going to be an ice skating rink soon. o.O 

small conversation between the woodsman husband and myself:

him: "it's below freezing outside, wear gloves."

me: "it's not below freezing outside, it's 20 degrees."

him: "....that's below freezing, dear." (note: his "dear" sometimes = "bless your heart")

me: "not it isn't it.....oh. yeah."

this week is going to be full of waiting. we're trying to go with a different mortgage company, mister should get info on his raise, and the CA house continues to thwart me although there is still movement. and there are people that want website work. i haven't done web design as a paid gig in a long time, so i'm worried that i'm not up to it. =\ it's a lot easier now, so maybe i'll just be all "WTF, WHY DIDN'T I DO THIS AS A SIDE HUSTLE BEFORE?"

as long as they don't need a LOT of scripting, i should be fine. ;|
