+ so. kid and i have been buying weekly ceramic studio time every wednesday about 30 miles away, and up until last night — there has been ZERO problem taking the tesla. in fact, i have been fighting the general suggestion that my car is not meant for the tundra, because WHATEVER, if it's snowy enough that clearance is an issue, it's snowy enough that i stay home. so there.

last night there was no snow, but the car had come unplugged from our charger and only had half a charge. not an issue since half a charge on the car is 120ish miles and, like i said, we only needed to do around 70 miles roundtrip. (that extra 10 miles is for dinner)

after studio, it was all sorts of stupid cold, and the miles we had to play with started dropping dramatically. we turned off the heater (omg, lol), switched off autobrights on the lights, turned the display down, etc. we ended up making it to the local co-op with ONE mile left.....not enough to make it home.

we parked, mister came and found an outlet (thank you small town businesses with outlets behind unlocked gates), plugged us in, and we went home for a few hours for the car to get up to 6 miles.....which should have got me where i needed to be with about 3 miles to spare.

nope! i BARELY made it. the car was yelling at me that it was tired and hungry and that if i froze to death it served me right. ;)

maybe a different car IS necessary. but then again, i'm so so so close to paying this off — i hate the idea of another payment. plus, i love my car. it's so zippy and fun to drive....and she has a serious attitude about things that i love.

+ mister got back home after cancelled flight drama. he ended up renting a car in minnyapples and driving home — his work told him to keep the car until this coming weekend, but we took it back tuesday since weather was going to be happening today and through the weekend. it was a toyota highlander and felt so....STURDY on the roads compared to my car.

feh. i'll think about it next year.

+ his trip to CA was very fruitful! he got his offer letter from new company and will be starting with them as an official employee on january 6th. woohoo! his current employer tried to keep him by offering a 20K a year raise with a promise that within 6 months they could bump him to whatever his new company is offering.

he said he'd think about it, but there's no way he's going to take it. the good part is current company wants to keep him on as a 1099 contractor, so odds are we'll have at least a year of an extra-large chunk of change...which is going right back into his retirement AND savings. (after we buy a tack room shed. shh.)

he pointed out that if he did the 1099 for two years and didn't put it away, we could ALMOST build an indoor heated arena. =\ if i was 20 years younger, i'd say YES. but that's not the responsible thing to do. :(((((

pbbth.

so FINALLY i can get things back in order to my liking financially as well as get a few things completely paid off. IF we can hold steady at this income level AND i can get a little side hustle, we could — in theory — pay off our house in less than ten years. if i got a bigger side hustle, we could probably do it in closer to seven. o.O

if i was REALLY frugal and stopped shopping so much and stopped thinking about another horse already (when misty isn't even here yet), we could maybe do it in five.

+ speaking of miss misty, she's still down south with the trainer and we're thinking about keeping her there until spring — tossing boarding/training costs at her and driving me down every other week (or week) for a lesson and a visit. it makes sense, but at the same time, i would love to have her here. :( we'll see what shakes out.

+ we are getting inundated with sweet treats and i feel like i'm sometimes fighting a losing battle against them. this week i had a gain for the first time in MONTHS and i do NOT like that, tyvm. i'm trying to give the goodies away and the kid is figuratively throwing herself over them to protect them from me. and mister brought dubai chocolate home from san jose, so i'm fighting THAT urge like crazy...because that stuff? that stuff is my crack cocaine, man.

+ it's almost christmas eve/day and i still don't know what i'm going to make for our dinner. usually we do hotpot, but i don't know if we'll be able to this year — lack of ingredients makes it hard. then again, we might be ok. i was thinking about making lasagna soup for christmas eve with some focaccia and doing a crunch wrap christmas with homemade crunch wraps (taco bell favorite!), my mexican rice, and pot beans. oh, and tres leches cake. =D

the cake part made both mister and kid twitch with happiness.

~~

ok. time to get more water in me and make a few different banchan for tonight.
