ugh!

I was worried that the kids would eat my substitute from yesterday, but I guess I should have been more concerned that he would eat them. Seems like he was somewhat of a tyrant and instead of trying various methods of classroom management, just sent them out and filled out detention slips.

I can't just let it slide, so I have to handle all the paperwork and give these punkin' heads detention, but seriously? One of my more trustworthy kids said another kid got in trouble for asking the sub his name. She also said substitute never would TELL them his name. WTF?

Anyway, this is why I will usually just go to school no matter how badly I'm feeling -- it's just not worth it sometimes.

.....and we're planning two days out the first week of March for Disneyland. I tried to get Paul to let us stay at the D'land Hotel, but he's all NO. =( Whatever. I'm never going to get to stay there....we're either going to leave California before I get my chance or the hotel will be booked or we'll balk at the cost. F'in A.

He's new to the district and the 2nd time the kids have had him. Last time they told me he was sort of nutsy and I didn't put too much stock in what they said.

Now I sort of feel bad that I didn't believe them. Sort of....

Agreed. It is most often easier to drag myself into the classroom than having to prepare for a sub, then deal with the aftermath. If it's a good sub, there will be a stack of work to grade. If it's a bad sub, well, you know...

Yeah, I know what you mean about that. It's hard to know who to believe. I tend to want to believe the adult, but then they're also not me and the kids are used to ME as their teacher. My husband just does not understand this when I try to explain that it is no simple task getting a sub or playing hooky whenever I feel like it. Maybe if I didn't CARE about my job......ugh.
