i realized that i have some new friends here that probably feel like they’ve just been dropped down into the middle of a movie full of unknown characters and odd shenanigans, so thought i’d give some details on who’s who and what’s what in my little world.

:)

— most important: i come from a place of love. i would rather avoid black holes of perpetual entitlement and existential crises if possible; they have no joy and are just full-on cringe. toot that, tootsie. :)

- i live in central california with my husband (the mister) of 20+ years and my charming spawn (daughter kid) who is a fifteen year old sass master.

- i have three permanent dogs and three cats. the dogs are:

onslow (named after onslow on keeping up appearances) - a 12 year old big boy of a german shepherd and rott. if he happened to be a show dog, his full name would be “onslow’s grand californian adventure” because when he was a wee lad, he had parvo and was in vet care for two weeks. with what we spent, we could have spent two weeks at the disneyland grand californian hotel.

which would cost…arms. legs. etc.

yoti the rescue. she’s a little pointy faced, skinny-assed, truly athletic shepherd mix that is a fence hopper, is bossy, and protects the kid with fervor and no-mercy.

nandor, the shepherd-husky mix that is 1/4 wolf, 3/4 drama queen. seriously. no more huskies ever….but i love him dearly.

our cats are benny who is 100 years old, crunchy, and senile; marmalade who is benny’s sister but will cut you if you look at her; buddha, the kid’s special cat who is just weird.

we are also fostering two golden retrievers who have been named veronica and kim joy. we’re fostering them until they find their forever homes. seriously. we’re not keeping them.

[ETA: veronica went to live with a wonderful family and we kept kim joy. :) my heart is full of golden retriever hair and happiness!]

- my degree is in english & linguistics; my job — up until this last year — was teaching. i started as an english teacher and found my way into teaching STEM. i loved it, but we decided me quitting would be the best thing for the family (and me), so here i am.

- so right now, i’m putting one foot in front of the other and trusting the process, knowing i’ll eventually realize what my next adventure really is.

- i have a lovely horse named dakota that is one of the sweetest boys IN THE WORLD. he’s an american/nevada mustang and is not my dream RIDING horse, but he’s perfect for what i need now. i haven’t ridden him in awhile, and that needs to change soon. :(

- we board at our friends' property, which also serves as a horse rescue. while i kvetch about us not having a horse property (note: there’s a difference between a horse property and a property where you can keep a horse lol), there’s something to be said about not having to dick around with all the EXTRA stuff that needs doing on a farm....even though as part of boarding costs, we're helping (both with $$ and labor) get everything clean and perfect.

- we’re sort of geeky around this house and there’s lots of d&d, video gaming, and funko pops to prove it. :P mister’s geekery is what keeps us housed and fed — he basically is the network engineer and analyst that keeps the matrix running. he’s a network genius. ;)

- i am an avid reader; i write; i seem to always have library fines. =D

- it takes a lot to really piss me off, but once i get mad? i scare myself.

—-

and there you go. i’m really not very complicated on the outside and sometimes think i’m one of the most boring people in the entire world. then there are other times that i feel like i’m exploding with complexities that make me so weirdly unique that i should have my own sitcom. or maybe podcast.

yeah, podcasts would probably be the medium that would work the best to tell my story.

—-

it’s a relatively early morning for us tomorrow, so i probably should get in bed. mister/kid are going to another doctor’s appointment in town tomorrow, so i’ll be home most of the day alone. one of my main goals is to spend a few hours lounging with a new book.

i think i can achieve that. ;)

We have over an acre and a half but it's not enough! Plus, I need more land for llamas and mini donkeys. And goats. *nod* ;)
