love and courage

note: there might be triggering things under the cut relating to the loss of a beloved pet. i keep it succinct and as stripped of detail as possible.

but good stuff is under there, too.

lj cut ftw although the cut seems to not work. gah.

[good and goodish things]

* last week mister talked to his boss about a really amazing opportunity to get certified as some fancy security type person. his boss was super excited and totally on board, because apparently they are having to outsource that type of work right now. o.O the class and certification are pretty expensive, so i was all "i'll believe it when i see it" -- and today he got the approval for all of it and the big boss's PA is signing him up today. i'd tell you what the certification is, but i can't remember. i know there's a c in it. he thinks it will be a year or a little less to get through all the certifications he has to get to get the big one. so yay!

* also last week, on friday at 4 p.m., mister gets a call from his boss (co-owner of the company) about an opportunity for the company. apparently, a big tech company in nashville reached out to them to see if they could do a rollout of a huge deployment of matrix computers. the project would be three weeks long. o.O he asked if mister had experience with all the stuff that goes along with the deployment and when he found out he does, boss got all excited. he asked if mister would be willing to go lead the project and after discussion this weekend, we decided it would be okie dokie if he went.

so now he has to wait and see if the job is even happening (mister brought up that the nashville folks might just be shopping out the job), but if it does, he'll be heading out soonish.

[the badish and the horrible]

* the other adventure last week involved a rattlesnake in our yard. mister made the HUGE mistake of taking his eyes off of the slithery bastard and then had to hunt it down. lol this is how i know he has no native in the woodpile, because i was all "WTF, NEVER TAKE YOUR EYES OFF A SNAKE!"

but, anyway, snake was sadly dispatched and the yard was safe.

* and then the utterly sad and heartbreaking. late friday, our old man cat was having serious trouble breathing and walking. he's been close to needing to be set off on his next big adventure for awhile, but it's so hard to let them go. :( we tried to find an emergency vet because he was in so much distress, but there was nothing. NOTHING. :( so mister had to do the hardest thing he's done and handle it. the grace is that for benny, it was quicker than a blink. for mister? he said it would be with him always. :(

so this is where we are.

aww. am so sorry! That's hard. Sorry that you couldn't find a vet and get help when needed and mister had to go through such difficult time.

P.s. the cut didn't seem to work - I noticed that's an issue with LJ. Just FYI.

i redid the cut and hopefully that will fix it. so much death in this post. ugh. thanks for letting me know. xo

Your cut still does not seem to be working.

[identity profile] liminal-space.livejournal.com 2023-04-26 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)

i bet it's because i'm not using the new editor! o.O i'm just using the lj generated cut tag, so it's their fault.

I never refer to cats or dogs as 'pets' because they're so much more than that. They're family members and companions. I lost three of my babies in three years and it devastated me. My old Gangsta was 19, so I was more at peace with him going of old age and the issues that came with his old age. But Miss Sauce, the kitty I got after Gangsta, was dumped off at the Humane Society with stage 4 cancer, and I didn't know that until she came home with me and immediately began throwing up. She was with me 18 happy months though. Then my third, Neehye, was adopted from a shelter that had gotten him from a small feral colony. It turned out that someone had poisoned the colony with antifreeze, and he died of kidney failure a few months after I got him. But, the point being is...Sauce and Neehye at least passed on in a good home. But yeah, I get it. It's really, really hard.

[identity profile] liminal-space.livejournal.com 2023-04-26 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)

it's *too* hard, sometimes. what brings solace is the memories i have with him and the knowledge that we gave him a wonderful life full of love. (and i hope whomever poisoned the colony gets theirs at some point.)

[identity profile] zeecha.livejournal.com 2023-04-25 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)

oh, I'm so sorry about the cat! and so sorry for your mister! That's really, really sad.

Isn't it good to know you're not married to a natural born killer though!

[identity profile] liminal-space.livejournal.com 2023-04-26 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)

thank you.

(and my friend e. said mister was a murderous trollop!)

So sorry about Benny. It's never easy to lose our furry babies. Eeek--not a fan of snakes in general, but especially not a fan of the poisonous varieties!!! We get timber rattlers from time to time here. *shivers* And wtg mister!! Massive luck to him with the Nashville gig and the certification! All kinds of goodness on the horizon!!

[identity profile] liminal-space.livejournal.com 2023-04-26 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)

thank you.

i can deal with most snakes with a shudder and a suggestion of relocation. rattlers? nope. not gonna bite my bebes.

i'm not really looking forward to mister being gone that long, but it's such a good opportunity for him. plus i think he'll have a good time! i did, however, forget that he'll be gone on our anniversary and on mother's day. lol

[identity profile] chocolate-frapp.livejournal.com 2023-04-25 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)

aw poor kitty.

losing a pet is losing a friend.

[identity profile] liminal-space.livejournal.com 2023-04-26 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)

you're so right. :(

[identity profile] edgeofthewoods.livejournal.com 2023-04-25 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that act of compassion is so very, very hard even when it's not our own hands that deal the blow. Peace to you and mister.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and for the weighty task Mister took on . He's in my thoughts.

[identity profile] liminal-space.livejournal.com 2023-04-26 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)

thank you so very much.

[identity profile] eyelid.livejournal.com 2023-04-26 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)

I have no idea how mister managed to do it, but Benny is so lucky mister was able to.

Congratulations though on mister’s work advancement, that’s really exciting :) what an up and down week for him.

I'm sorry about your Benny. We had to put down our 18yr old cat Isabelle as well this past week. We knew for a while what was about to happen, but it doesn't make it any easier. *hugs*

Poor Mister having to do that.
