we are in escrow. oh, fuck.
May. 8th, 2023 02:20 pmyesterday we got the "yep, offer is accepted, it's official" news. o.O
this morning, mister made the inspection appointment #1 -- normal structural inspection + mold. it's taking place on thursday and thank goodness our real estate agent is willing to be our on-the-site person to monitor things since we can't be there. ALSO this morning, mister got the details on a bidness trip he's taking august 5-11th; he'll be in portland for that week at his company's main office doing things and stuff.
on paper, that's about 2 weeks after we close. *throws hands in the air*
right now, i need to keep minnesconskin house at the back of my mind, because i have to plan to get this place ready to list. ugh. we're hoping to get it on the market mid to late june. if we're SUPER LUCKY -- which we won't be, because my juju won't allow it, but i do still hope! -- CA house will find a buyer super fast and they'll leave me alone until we move out. we also have a plan to rent it out if it doesn't sell fast enough, but i don't think that will happen. hope hope hope.
SO.
for the next few months, i'm going to be boring AF and talk about prepping for the move because i can already tell i'm going to stress out and get the vapors over everything. i already did this morning and it manifested because someone (quite possibly me) wrapped one-serving-sized portions of lasagna straight in foil without putting cling wrap on it and popped it in the freezer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
i'm also going to talk about how i'm working hard on losing some of the pandemic weight i gained that i never got rid of. i might obsess over that a bit, so sorry about that. we're back on IF (intermittent fasting), no sugar for me, and i'm setting a goal of 7K of rowing this week. that's not a lot at all, but i need to start super slow to get my form back -- that rowing machine can eff you up if you use your back instead of other muscle groups when doing it.
~~
to make me feel like i did something constructive, i cleaned out the veggie drawers in the fridge and ended up roasting cauliflower for later this week, steaming two artichokes (kid already ate one), and air fryer roasting an ear of sweet corn for tonight. getting rid of food is going to be a priority, since i have about a thousand pounds of broccoli frozen. and two tri-tips. and other proteins and frozen food that is too good to give away.
i made a meal plan for the week that i'm sticking to NO MATTER WHAT:
- taco bites for kid; taco salad for mister and i
- rotisserie chicken in white sauce with fresh bebe peas over sourdough toast (for mister and i)
- tuna casserole
we have hello fresh coming this week because i forgot to cancel the order i made when we thought mister was going to TN for three weeks, so that will be good since i will quickly become disenchanted about the whole "use what you've got" mentality i need to adopt.
i'm going to be ok. for reals.
~~~
today i'm going to be kind to myself and do little things and make lots of lists. i so love me some lists.
Date: 2023-05-10 06:07 pm (UTC)thank you! i know they're going to find SO MUCH stuff, but that seems to happen when buying a house. i imagine i'll go through the same stress when THIS house is being inspected for its new family.
Date: 2023-05-09 10:36 am (UTC)wow! congratulations!
It'll be a process, though I'm guessing you'll handle it like a champ-you can do it!
Date: 2023-05-10 06:08 pm (UTC)you are far more confident in my champ abilities than i am. i'm already planning for a few days of feeling overwhelmed and hiding under the covers with a book. =D
Date: 2023-05-11 01:18 pm (UTC)Moving is A LOT of work! So taking some rest days is ok in my book! There-you have permission to take care of yourself! I bet you'd be more likely to rest for part of a day, and then do a bit of unpacking/packing/whatever... I'm sure you'll get it done (eventually)!
Date: 2023-05-11 05:30 pm (UTC)if i don't get it done, will the new owners of our CA house let me be a roommate? lol
Date: 2023-05-10 06:10 pm (UTC)oh, so you're the skinny friend who can say "I CAN EAT ANYTHING AND NOT GAIN WEIGHT." lol :) i'm kidding — good for you for not gaining pandemic weight! as far as i'm concerned, that's a big accomplishment. i think i'll find the way to balance things, but it will take a bit of effort. so much easier to eat pudding. =D
Date: 2023-05-11 05:31 pm (UTC)that sounds sensible! i didn't really start gaining weight until i got a desk job in a big office. it seems that when you get THAT kind of job, the potlucks alone are your undoing. :)
Date: 2023-05-10 06:11 pm (UTC)thank you! i'm more hopeful that things move peacefully at their own pace, but peaceful house buying has NEVER happened for us. :( there's always *something* — but maybe this time will be the exception.
Date: 2023-05-09 02:07 pm (UTC)Congratulations on getting an accepted offer. Reading about your anticipation of what will happen between now and the closing day brings back some scary memories. There was a silver lining, for me at least. It caused me to love and appreciate my dear spouse even more than I did before. Perhaps your fella will feel the same way about you.
Date: 2023-05-10 06:12 pm (UTC)scary is totally the right word for all of this. i have a feeling my understanding of how protective he is of my mental health will deepen — because i'm going to be the one that is...challenging. yes, i like that word. *challenging* ;)
Date: 2023-05-11 10:58 pm (UTC)Congratulations. We went from discovering it was time to move (rent increase) in March of 2016 to being in our first home in late May 2016. May your preparation for sale go beautifully and may everything work out.
Bless lists.
