^ from a conversation with myself this morning that went like this:

messyme: oops, i just made a mess.

tidyme: are you surprised?

kid was listening to this small back and forth and asked me how many voices present this morning. punk. (and there were the normal, everyone-has-them two, thank you very much.)

midweek update:

there have been technical issues and physical issues that have made my list not complete. ARE YOU SURPRISED? ahem.

but there have been successes, too. and those are where i'm settling my focus.

i have really been enjoying the weather! fall is amazing in this area and winter can't be THAT bad, right? =D i'm really hoping i feel like getting out for a walk tomorrow morning — i'm trying SO HARD to do what i'm supposed to do for my back, since my stupidity and restraining it when it just barely starts to feel better is making this drag on forEVER.

mister only has been able to get/unpack two of our units and it feels like we're going to be unpacking forever. kid turns 17 next month (OMFG SHE GREW UP) and i don't want me to be whining about unpacked boxes when she turns 18.

one more is coming today, so hopefully we can get that unpacked (by we, i mean not me) and get another one for the weekend. if we can do that and get two more next week, the trips to podland will be done.

of course there are still boxes in the garage that need attention, but just having all our shit in one place will make unpacking so much easier. SO MUCH EASIER.

i am trying to keep a positive spin on things, but it's difficult. our CA house hasn't sold, we're going into slow season, and i need the proceeds from that house to buy the couch i want, pay off the credit cards, pay off my car, and get our savings fattened up. plus, we have barns, and fences, and horses, and chickens and their houses, and goats to prepare for/get.

*cry*

and i worry that we'll have to sit on the house through the winter and i'll have to be EXTRA frugal with two house payments (and electric and water and all that shit) until spring. we did end up reducing the price on the house by a chunk and our agent is sure this will get it moving. i'm trusting her. i'm trusting her. i'm trusting her.

i didn't think about frugality when we hit costco two days ago. nope, not at all. $600 at costco, yo. but they had shabu shabu and pork belly. :( and pumpkin madelines. and we stocked up on things for the freezer and junk. and got two rugs to help keep dogs from tracking in ALL of the outside. and....candles and dog jackets (yoti will freeze out here if we're not careful) and salmon for the dogs...and a pair of slide on shoes and and and...

i blame mister.

:)

[i am not a big pork eater, but i made the BEST braised pork belly last night. we are SO READY for hot pot — as soon as i can find somewhere that sells fried tofu and enoki mushrooms. and lotus root.]

mister's clients are all in PST zone and we're two hours...ahead. (i had to think about it for a second) so at dinner time for us, he's still got an hour of work or more to do. usually, he can just walk away and have dinner, but recently? not so much. i feel like i'm a restaurant kitchen, because he's just grabbing a plate and working while he eats. and by the time i serve him and the kid, she's done eating (little bird child) and i find myself eating later than everyone else. it's annoying.

so, i'm switching things around starting tomorrow or next week and the one "real" meal i'm cooking will be at lunch. for dinner, everyone can sort of just do what they'd do for normal lunch. like for me? normal lunch might be potatoes, egg whites, and kimchi....or quinoa salad....or a big cup of soup. generally speaking, lunch needs to be one pan, done in 10 or less, and incorporate things that are already made. *nod*

bonus points for things that can be microwaved and eaten out of the container they were stored in. =D

i need to make an incentive chart for my health and wellness journey. (i'm totally going to be calling it that from now on, using a very specific california accent.)

ooooookay. time to have a bit more coffee and do more things.

I'm sure your house will sell soon. Houses around here have sold really quickly especially if the price gets reduced. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I totally understand about overspending at Costco. lol it is so easy to do!
