this morning mister and i went to duluth to do a costco/target/grocery run and it was relatively uneventful, which is nice. we did spend far more at costco than we should have BUUUUUUT we really WILL use that 19 lbs of pancake mix. (we really didn't get that)

we DID get a package of seaweed "sandwich" snacks (layers of nori with sesame glaze and puffed brown rice) and mister was all "uh, wha?" because i do not like nori. at all. he pointed out that i didn't like it. i pointed out i liked sesame and brown rice.

plus, i was hungry.

"we'll give it to the kid if i don't like it," i said, and in the cart it went.

we got to the car and i broke one open, took a bite and DIED because EWWW. the kind of ewwww where you want to stick your tongue out and wipe it off with sanitizing wipes.

while mister was getting his hair cut, i went in a little antique mall and founds some really nice treasures! i don't have places for things right now, but as soon as we get the bookcase thing built in and i find a buffet i like (or sideboard? not sure what they actually are called), i can begin getting things to create curated shelving experiences.

that's what i'm calling them.

so, yeah. i found pyrex nesting bowls that, for the set, were reasonable at $70 ish cash dollars. i found some fiestaware i've never seen before — i THINK they might have been the uranium red, but need to look it up. it was a cup and saucer set for $20 and if it's the uranium red? very nicely priced.

i ended up getting a set of vintage napkins for $6, a silver spoon for $1.50 and some really cute vintage valentine's for $1 each. what's precious about the vintage valentine's is that they had been filled out already. LOVE THAT.

when we got home, the darling daughter had cleaned the house for me. WOW. she is such an angel sometimes. (she's a teenager...sometimes is fair) then she went off to clean the cat box and sliced her finger open, so we had to deal with that. which was gross, because lots of blood.

on top of the loss of blood was a raw turkey breast i was getting ready to mangle so it would fit in the little crockpot i have and there was this chuck of slush that was cranberry colored.

ugh.

lol

mister/kid are heading to minnyapples this weekend for a horse event thing and i'm hanging with the creatures. i am still really nervous about driving in weather and some is supposed to hit this weekend, so i'm the one staying.

that was the impetus for the shopping...i have enough THINGS to keep me from gnawing off a table leg and most of them are healthy. well, ALL of them are, really.

today has been a wash with drinking enough water and eating — as in not near enough of either. :( i think i'll make another pot of soup and we can have that for an appetizer or something. look at me making good choices instead of going to culver's.

(note: today's flavor of the day at culver's is chocolate covered strawberry. i didn't have more than a twinge of want. and i didn't eat any samples at costco, even though they were all good today! o.O )

I hope she likes it and doesn't need to sanitize her tongue after a taste :'D

What did she slice her hand on? The catbox or something near to it? 😳

we're flirting with the idea of a Costco membership here. because I understand they very affordably sell the Freshpet we use, but as far as human food and household goods I'm cautious because we don't have a lot of storage space in our apartment. You joke about a 19 pound box of pancake mix and yeah that's what I'm picturing 🙃

she SAID she liked it, but my guess is those things will end up either as bird food if they're safe or in the trash. OR i might burn them. ick!

so the thing about costco....

we use it mainly for things like bulk chicken, ground beef, and shrimp (the shrimp is delicious and the price is great). we get wet dog food there, vitamins/medicines/beauty stuff, some ready to cook stuff (their meatloaf is the BEST and i don't usually like meatloaf at all), produce, etc. the really big items? like 50 lbs of whatever? we never get that. :)

if i recall, costco will let you go in and look around before you get the membership, so that might be a good way to see if it's worth it. =D

Almost no stores around here even do samples anymore. I hate covid.

lol…. Yeah, nori. What were you thinking?! A little goes a long long way.
I’ve found the older I get the more I dislike driving in weather conditions like snow sleet heavy rain fog. Fog is the worst! So I’m my book, you’re ok to not push yourself to drive in those conditions because… well, it’s most likely for the best.

i don't know what i was thinking. lol the picture looked SO GOOD though. :( in my HEAD, it was going to taste delicious!

i grew up driving in fog, so don't mind it as much as rain and snow. i honestly am like "well, i won't be driving until spring."

mister was all "oh, it's easy! just watch out for black ice." me: "what does black ice look like?" him: "you can't see it." me: "W. T. F. yep, no driving til spring." lol

I already did my post for this year.

Back when my life was interesting, and new things happened almost every day, I'd note them down. In my declining years, each day flows into the next, with little to no difference other than the temperature outside.

But since you asked nicely...

"Blursday the seventytwelfth: Woke up. Made coffee. Took morning meds. Fell asleep at desk. Woke up again. Watched something on [$_STREAMING_SERVICE]. Played a game or two. Got high. Ate something unhealthy and delicious. Took evening meds. Watched something trippydippy. Put on some music. Re-read some book I love. Fell asleep."

Oh I love vintage valentines, what a great find! My mom used to decorate with some when we were kids and I always liked looking at them.

Glad kid was having a not-so-teenagery day :)
