thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kazzy_cee for the 2025 questions!

1/1 The first day of the new year – do you have anything special to look forward to this coming year?

there are a lot of special things to look forward to in 2025! horse time, dressage shows (i hope), a trip to canadia, and paying off debt.

1/2 Day two of the new year - have you eaten all the goodies you bought for the Christmas/holiday festivities yet?

we had more or less cleared out all the goodies from the house by 12/26 — by 1/2, we had replenished with healthy choices.

1/3 The Danish/American comedian and pianist, Victor Borge was born on this day in 1909. Are you familiar with his comedy style?

victor borge was a favorite of mine when i used to download old radio shows. very talented and funny fellow. :)

and more from [livejournal.com profile] maju01 by way of a website i'll link at another time.

1/1 When was the last time you tried something new?

on the 21st we did a solstice celebration — first time doing something that elemental.

1/2 Who do you sometimes compare yourself to?

hrm. right now i'd say i compare myself most to other ladies in my wl group — am i doing as well as they are and, if not, what are they doing that can help me? i guess when i compare myself to anyone else and find myself lacking, i try to figure out how to REASONABLY better myself.

1/3 What’s the most sensible thing you’ve ever heard someone say?

"watch their feet." — my friend teresa. :) basically, watch what people do instead of what they say.

she is also the one who would say "god don't like ugly" which always made me happy with the wisdom of those words.

* so misty is NOT coming home tomorrow like i had hoped. SADNESS. the trainer is flying out super early tomorrow morning and will be gone for a week. next weekend she's flying out again, so we'd have to do friday...but kid's getting her wisdom teeth extracted on tuesday, so i'm a little uncomfortable leaving her alone for the day. as of right now, we'll be picking her up on the 19th....let's just hope spring comes by then. (ha. ha ha ha.)

while i'm disappointed, she's still getting trained by fancy dressage riders, so why complain about that?

* in additional NOT HAPPENING news, we skipped the yoga/intention setting thing tonight after finding out that like THIRTY people were going. o.O the space was perfect for 18 of us, but close to double that? nooooope. so instead we were invited to a yin yoga and sound bath session on sunday.

kid won't go (too early), but i'm there. i also talked to the instructor and OMFG, i love her. LOVE HER. i had asked about the tuesday morning yoga class and if it was beginner friendly, shared some of my challenges (i'm as limber as a stick sometimes), and she basically said that it would be perfect for me: small class so there would be more time for her to assist me in modified poses until i'm non-crunchy.

then she said that she would support me on this journey with love and light.

it was so heartfelt and lovely that i just melted. lol

book #1 of 2025 is finished. i read /the puzzle house/ by duncan ralston. it squeaked by with a 3/5 star review from me, but i was feeling generous.

Six strangers arrive at the home of preeminent puzzle master Alexei Vasiliev for the reading of his will. Among them are the deceased's widow, who'd already begun divorce proceedings, a virologist troubled by actions in his past, and a convicted murderer on day release. The potential beneficiaries will split Vasiliev's $150M fortune if they participate in his last great work.

The choice is simple: leave the house with nothing or continue in the hope of solving the six interconnecting escape rooms within this house.

Once there, the participants soon discover Puzzle House is far deadlier than it appears, and that making their way through the rooms may be a matter of life and death. Someone is watching their every move, toying with them, turning them against each other. With their lives on the line, they are forced to wonder, is it all just a deadly game created by a gleeful sadist, or something far more sinister?

(note: it was far more sinister and the ending was so poorly done that i am now changing my 3/5 star label to 2.5/5 star. *nod*)

~~

and with that, i go to spend time with the beloveds. and order new sheers for the living room. and search out a good deal on a new yoga mat since mine is ratty and funky right now (we're going to use it for saddle shims on the horses).

I need a new mat for Pilates - my one is looking very shabby. Good luck for the tooth extraction - that's a painful thing!

the new mat came and i actually think it might be too thick! o.O i have to mull it over a bit and decide if i want to keep or send back. pilates are the BEST thing, aren't they? i actually hate most of the exercises involved, but love me a reformer. :) i've been doing tabletops and planks and bitching each and every second of it. lol

We don't use the reformer, but we do two mat classes a week which are tough and really enjoy them,
