questions to answer.....

1/4 What gets you excited about life?

it honestly depends on the day, but often it's the little, singular moments that bring me hand-to-heart joy and excitement. if you look, every day is overflowing with potential to see and experience new things.

1/4 Dry January is a campaign where people choose to abstain from alcohol for the entire month of January (the campaign was started in 2013 by Alcohol Change UK, a UK charity). Are you joining in with dry January?

i am not a huge drinker, so probably not for this. if i don't drink any alcohol this month, i'll say i did it in solidarity. ;)

i slept until 11 a.m. this morning which is absolutely unheard of for me. o.O i was definitely NOT up with the chickens. getting up that late is making the whole day seem off and feel a bit wasted, but i'll get over it. plus. tomorrow is early morning yoga (i will be driving to a town that's about 40 minutes away) and i'm really, really looking forward to it.

in a few hours we have d&d with friends, so dinner needs to happen pretty darn soon. i try to eat before 5 most days then fast until the next morning, but tonight? there may be snacks. o.O if there are, i'm going to really try and keep them healthy — i'm about 15 lbs away from a HUGE wl goal and want to knock it out as fast as i can.

for dinner, we're having italian beef w/roasted carrots and sweet potatoes. there will be a few cups of green things to go along with it and i may even give myself a sliver of dubai chocolate as an extra special treat. then again, i may not. my ratio of things for this type of dinner is basically 3 ounces of beef, a cup of carrots, a few bites of sweet potatoes, and two cups of green things (salad, green beans, etc). it's a lot of food so i may not be able to manage it. if i was a smart woman, i'd do a salad for d&d snack time.

but i am not a smart woman. :P

hope you had the kind of day (or are HAVING the kind of day) that makes you feel on top of the world.

xo

I had pizza at my usual place today. It's very tasty and friendly.

One of our exercise classes starts up this week, but I'm missing the other ones I do so I am really looking forward to them starting the week after. The Christmas break is quite long without my classes...

I drank a couple of glasses of stout day before yesterday so it's already too late for me

I think there's a lot of day to day stuff that makes me not excited about life but you're right that there are a lot of little moments in there that are good like reading something fun, seeing art that makes me smile, petting a dog etc. When I'm the most down I find that focusing on those little moments helps a lot.

I'm also not a big drinker. I like the normalization of people reflecting on habits and trying to drink a bit less in January because so much of our culture revolves around drinking. Although I think that's less true for the younger generations which is nice.

Your dinner sounds fabulous!
