+ today i may have made a tasty sourdough cranberry loaf. i haven't cracked into it yet — it's still cooling — but it seems a bit off to me weight-wise. ugh....baking is SO temperamental.

[ok, just ate some — delicious, but the cranberry distribution is a little off. i'm sure there's some stupid bread making tip i should learn to make it better. ugh(x2) — back to youtube skewl.]

+ sooooo.....a friend and i are going to be challenging each other to create three (THREE) kdp (kindle direct publishing) books this year. he has actually sold work on that platform and said doing this would prompt me to actually write with a purpose instead of pretending i'm a starving artist who thinks about writing more than she actually writes.

i am spending more time thinking of a fun nom de plume than i am coming up with ideas....so like me. ugh(x3).

the idea behind this is to work it like a writing boot camp — it's going to be less about art (snorfle) and more about, you know, having determination and grit and actually FINISHING something.

we have no real rules beyond having fun with it and reconnecting with our voices. we did promise each other that there would be no "omg, this is going to be as long as gravity's rainbow and JUST as deep and clever" (snorfle) "so i can't possibly finish anything prior to 2032!"

i think i'm keen on this idea because if i don't do SOMETHING about that particular creative outlet, it's just going to keep eating at me. i do not like to be eaten at, thank you very much.

i am also appreciating the fact that both he and i are looking at this as nothing more than training exercises. the pressure for GOOD is not there. it will still BE good, i imagine. ;) just maybe not my usual whatevers.

and that is OK. *nod*

+ today i did my core workout + some hip flexor exercises. at one point, video dude did this weird stretch, with one leg crossed over the other and arms snaked through both legs while in a crunch position and i wanted to throw something at the tv. lol that was the only one of the exercises i had to modify, so that's something, right? RIGHT.

+ tomorrow is grocery shopping, ceramics with the kid, and some afternoon barn work if i'm not freezing. next week we're planning on going to a glass-blowing class — which i am terrified of. seriously, i burn myself on so much shit as it is, why put myself in a situation where i could potentially catch on fire. ugh(x4).

i also need to find a tax attorney for us. and do laundry. and think deep thoughts.

meh.

+ the lotus root/beef/daikon soup was delicious, but i don't think i want to do beef like that again. there's something so MEATY about beef — i don't enjoy it that much at all. which sucks because we have about six more sirloin steaks to get through, two chuck roasts, and....a bunch of angus burgers. oh, and NINE POUNDS of chili meat. *sigh*

fyi, my lower cal diet has no room in it for chili, because i eat the hell out of that stuff. i could have it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and have before), so i've been holding out on making it for that reason. some people (me, i am some people) have no control over certain foods.

like chili. and chocolate.

lort, help me.

"video dude did this weird stretch, with one leg crossed over the other and arms snaked through both legs while in a crunch position" that's a really good stretch, but you have to do it right by keeping your hips square, and slightly tipping your hips (not curling too much). To keep your knee safe you also have to flex your foot and keep it very flexed otherwise you'll be twisting your knee. It gets right into your butt and the piriformis muscle which wakes it up if you do it correctly.

i could not for the life of me get my back and hips in what i knew was the correct position — until I modified. then I was like "look at me go!" lol i'm going to try it again tomorrow and keep your tips and tricks at the forefront of my mind.

I have been thinking about writing on the KDP format as well. My neighbor did when she was laid off from work and made a pretty good income off of it.

oh? well, good on you! word is that a pretty good income is not as easy to come by as say 2015 or so, but who knows?

Well, feel free to send me your frozen beef! ha. Seriously, though, if you want to get rid of it, bring it to a food bank or a women's shelter or someplace!

My child, you are doing ok, in all departments. signed, The Lort

most likely we'll use the beef for when company comes over. ;) mister pulled a steak out for fajitas tomorrow, so we'll see if I like them. o.O and I cracked up at my message from the LORT! :) yay!

Cooking is more forgiving. Baking is all about chemistry or at least ratios. I hope it turned out ok.

flavor is sublime when you get a bite with cranberries. the problem is not enough cranberries and they're sort of all in a clumpy line through the loaf. :)

Good luck on the writing thing.

Do you do chili with or without beans?
