those best laid plans and schemes, yo.

no ceramics today: kid still has a puffy/achy mouth hole, so i wanted to stay with her in a show of solidarity even though she pathetically told me it was ok if i went without her. because we're not heading into "town," there probably will not be any grocery shopping, either. ah, well.

i did those hip flexor stretches yesterday and was thinking they weren't going to do too much of anything short-term. oh, how wrong i was. i'm SORE this morning. that leads me to believe i am MUCH tighter than i thought i was. o.O today the focus is on spine flexibility for stretchy crap and a barbell workout. as far as food goes, lots of lean protein, loads of vegetables, and very limited carbs. i like to pretend i'm carb-cycling when i do days of really restricted carbs, but we all know what the reality is. (read: too many days of unlimited carbs = bloaty mcbloaty pants)

i'm tired of thinking about food and dietary needs and exercise and healthy crap. sort of LOL, sort of not.

randomness:

— i was not surprised — at all — that neil gaiman is a predator. you hear the same whispered story from a variety of different people and the rumors start gaining weight.

— i'm already regretting my KDP challenge. a kid's book would count for one, right? words is words, birds.

— i need a blonde wig with electric blue streaks for d&d. it needs to be able to make pigtails.

— with great force of will, i am not reading the news or looking at social media (save here) for a week or so. i just....can't.

— last night i finished /a house with good bones/ by t. kingfisher. i was pleasantly surprised at how much i liked it! her style of writing is warm and welcoming, and her characters are charming and delightful — all things that make me feel cozy and comfortable with a book. i'm now going to spend reading time with /big swiss/ —

Greta lives with her friend Sabine in an ancient Dutch farmhouse in Hudson, New York. The house is unrenovated, uninsulated, and full of bees. Greta spends her days transcribing therapy sessions for a sex coach who calls himself Om. She becomes infatuated with his newest client, a repressed married woman she affectionately refers to as Big Swiss.

One day, Greta recognizes Big Swiss’s voice in town and they quickly become enmeshed. While Big Swiss is unaware Greta has eavesdropped on her most intimate exchanges, Greta has never been more herself with anyone. Her attraction to Big Swiss overrides her guilt, and she’ll do anything to sustain the relationship…

so far, it's decent...but man, NONE of the characters are warm and fuzzy. except maybe sabine. ;)

— mister's job situation continues to be full of unexpected twists and turns. short version: new job had an emergency hiring freeze (they're going public soon, so....yeah....that's always a shit show), the bonus he was supposed to get didn't go through, old job made an offer he couldn't refuse (srsly....more money than new job offer + residuals off MS licensing) but had to sign a 6 month "don't leave us" clause....new job said the offer is still good and will be honored with a new start date of 3/1....but they can push it for him if needed....but now the bonuses are in jeopardy which makes the $$ there not as good as old job.....BUT when they go public they'll be offering stock options to employees and while i can't divulge the name of the company, i can say it's poised to be something HUGE.....old job said that even if he leaves, they want to 1099 him and he can continue to get the residuals and do microsnot and linux work for them.

i'm more pissed about the bonus than anything — i had my eye on paying off a credit card and getting a new saddle. lol >.<

— looks like we need to head to town anyway. kid needs a dental syringe, i need a prescription picked up, and some shopping needs to happen.

so with that? poof.

I love carbs, if you combine with protein they don't spike your blood sugar so badly, and they also help you to process the protein slower.

you're thinking of good carbs. i'm talking about the delicious white bread that has ultra refined flour and sugar in it....and it melts in your mouth. and chocolate carbs. those are the best carbs. *homer drool*

I am enjoying T. Kingfisher's books, most recently _A Sorceress Comes to Call_ but also the Temple of the White Rat series.
