would you buy a dozen farm-fresh eggs (some jumbo, some large, some medium and some brown, some green, some blue) for $5.75 — with a "you get seventy-five cents back if you return the carton" discount?

i see the prices of eggs in the supermarket and there are still "cheaper" eggs out there, but they're a) ugly b) not from bougie chickens c) not from chickens that are free range and happy.

when we were buying eggs, i was spending close to $5 a dozen for brown, cage-free eggs. and there were no blue ones! (yes, i am THAT person that would pay more money for blue or green eggs, even though they're smaller. UGH.)

conversation after dinner:

me, to kid: "we need to get you comfortable with being here alone for a week, so daddy and i can go on vacation next year."

kid: "when would you go?"

me: ".....like....winter."

kid: ........

kid: .............

kid: "and where would you go for a week?"

me: ".......hawaii."

kid: *slow blink, long glare* "no."

i found out what's been going on with misty's trainer/broker/whatever. the drop off or pick up hasn't been able to happen because she's been on a long cruise to mexico. o.O smart woman, her.

right now, it looks like delivery will be thursday, which is good because we'll be a balmy 22 degrees! woohoo! warm weather at last!

ahem.

yesterday we had our pony club meeting and it was surprising how much i liked these women. o.O i think we may have fun together. ;)

today? i baked cranberry bread, a loaf of banana chocolate chip bread, and made kimchi and chicken rice. i didn't any of the cranberry bread, just a bit of the banana chocolate chip bread, and none of the dinner. my eating is all wonky today, but that's ok. i filled up on cottage cheese earlier and it's lasting me all day — if this doesn't break my WL plateau, i'm gonna be mad. MAD i tell you. >.< i actually think i may have jumped off the plateau already — today showed a 2 lb loss after a month of either nothing or less than a pound.

fat camp doctor, aka doctor sexy, promised me if i stuck with it and just changed some things up, i'd get started again. GOOD FOR HIM FOR BEING RIGHT.

exercise needs to add up a bit more, but i'm doing far better than i was. it's just hard in this weather! i want to be a bear, eat honey and berries, and hibernate.

*sigh*

i know exercise is very much on my mind because i dreamed about riding around the arena doing a sitting trot and not being able to hold it for long because my core wasn't strong enough. i need venom behind me saying "engage your core! engage your core!" =D

it's so hard to believe january is past the midpoint mark! kid starts school on tuesday — if she were doing the traditional route of school, she'd be graduating HS in june. as it is, she should be finishing her sophmore year of college and have all her gen-ed out of the way. then it's time to transfer her to a nearby 4 year college to finish up; at this point, she wants to dual major in art and psychology, with the ultimate goal being an art/equine assisted therapist.

bye, now!

I buy organic free range eggs and we pay about the same as you. I think it's worth it for the chickens to have a good life with good food.

What a great ambition! 😀

I'd look around to see what other nearby egg sellers were asking before I settled on a price. But that's just me.

Organic eggs in the store where I live are about $7-$8 right now. So that price seems cheap.

Since mom passed back in June of 2023, I can't remember the last time I bought eggs. Rarely eat before noon since the esophagus surgery back in 2018, so never make "breakfast", and I rarely cook from scratch, so wouldn't need them for an ingredient in a recipe either. Haven't checked the prices on eggs lately when grocery shopping as a result, usually just walk past the egg section without looking.
