who took this picture of me?

* that stubborn 10 lbs is now a stubborn 8 lbs. i MAY actually be able to Meet That Big Goal(tm) by the first of march. o.O i'll have to keep doing what i'm doing now for the rest of the month, but it's definitely doable. i think.

the big issue will be the 14th and 15th. kid and i are in minnyapples and doing the asian market where there will be korean potato and cheese corn "dogs," japanese milk bread, and red bean paste buns....plus 800 other things that are just as tasty and just as thwarting.

can i wire my mouth shut for those two days? put a grazing muzzle on? something? or am i going to have to rely on stupid will power alone? argh. lol

* it's so cold here that doing anything with the horses is problematic. i don't want them to feel abandoned, so i layer up (snow bibs! gloves! trapper hat! boots!) and trudge through the snow to visit and just hangout for as long as i can — which isn't very long right now due to frozen fingers. ugh.

today misty and i had a nice chat about her favorite scratchy places, she gave me horse hugs, and she played with the zipper on my coat....pulling it up and down, up and down. mister warned me NOT to let her do that the other day, and it's probably not something i want to encourage, but dang it if it isn't the cutest thing ever.

* we sold another three dozen eggs today! this is great news! i'm well on my way to being an egg selling magnate. i DO reduce profit margins by getting square cartons, using twine to close them up, and printing and cutting my own cute labels and accoutrements, but whatEVER: my egg and garden industry is based on a cottage core aesthetic and i refuse to be hemmed in by budgets and AP/AR.

which is why i will never make any money at any of this.

oh, well. at least i'll have fun. =D

* mister got talked into going to gencon again this year, so he'll be gone four or five days in august. i just hope he doesn't bring covid home to any of us this year. =D what's really, really nice is our friend K is coming out for TWO WEEKS before they go, so the two of them are going to do some bigger farm projects that will be easier with two people. K is also coming out (we hope) for a full week in april to help with some clearing in the back woods — maybe by that time we'll have an idea of where we want to put the next HUGE endeavor....

a tiny house.

the plan is to have a tiny house with a small stall/pasture area and airbnb it for awhile in the hopes it will pay for itself. when/if it does and kid is ready to move out....she'll have a house that's ready for her. ;) her dumb long distance boyfriend is saying he wants to move out here too, so we'll see. i love the idea of her being on property but having independence!

we also have toyed with the idea of taking half an acre on the backside of our property (we have 40 acres) and putting a tiny house on as a rental. but that kind of thinking is for another day.

* it's 2:30 and i think i'm going to read a bit, make some bread, and then craft whilst watching /the office/. i also need to measure the ponies for girths, but will need help from child for that and she's feeling VERY teenagery tired right now. =D bless her little heart.
