+ i'm ready for spring. >.< it's -13 this morning, which makes farm chores less than enjoyable. part of the suck comes from not being able to just sit and cuddle chickens  and horses — that's one of the perks of having creatures and to not do it? no. fun.

it's going to warm up in the next few days, so all we need to do is keep creatures from getting frostbite or worse until then. it can be done!

+ at least we're in the 20s on thursday, which is when our farrier and vet are coming  almost on top of each other (hahaha....ahem)....i mean ARRIVING AT ALMOST THE SAME TIME for trims and teeth floating (and vaccine info....and setting up hock injections for bluebelle). if it was still in the negatives, things might get canceled, so a balmy 21 degrees f should workout just fine. whew.

+ today i'm going to make a few loaves of bread — one for us and one for our friends. i haven't got to bake in a while, so i'm looking forward to it! i roasted a head of garlic last night, so will use that in ours and i'll just do a normal one with no add-ins for friends. i also want to make some for the farrier and vet, but that can be done tomorrow.

my house is going to smell so good, y'all.

+ beyond baking, i need to just park myself and get some work done on planning out the next few months. appointments have been made, but i haven't written them on the family calendar — so we're constantly in a state of "what's going on later today" when "later today" is like....12 minutes away.

i also need to make some labels for egg cartons, order some sticker paper to make cute and fun stickers for myself, and prep the budget for next month. because it looks like FINALLY mister's raise will be kicking in, and the first bigger influx of dollars will be on the 15th. as soon as he finishes the big microsoft test coming up, he'll be getting a % of MS licenses that his company manages. THAT is going to be a very nice addition to the coffers and SHOULD get my car paid off in a few months. or four. whatever, go home lori math, you're drunk.

aaaand there's paperwork to put together about horses, some prep to do for next USPC cert for me, ordering of medical emergency bracelets for both kid and i, and garden planning.

+ if the weather holds true to the forecast, we're going to load the ponies up and go to the covered arena! i may actually get to flipping ride. or, more likely, i'll get to finally do groundwork with misty to get a feel for her.

it's been nice getting to know her — she's a silly, silly girl. she nuzzles, wants to suck on your fingers (um, no), and just does young-horse cute stuff that makes me squee.

loudly.

on the ground is where relationships are built, so i like to think that the slow pace we're going is good and my patience will be rewarded.

+ the order for our USPC club shirts is up and i have a dilemma; should i order for my current size or one size down? i like sweatshirts and fleece jackets to be a little bigger, so ordering current size would probably be ok. but the summer shirt and polo shirt are causing me to waffle back and forth on size.

i have until the 23rd of march to figure it out, so i'll stick that in the tickler file for now.

~~

ok. time to get movin' and groovin'.

Stay warm. I know the smell of fresh baked bread will help warm up the house. We've been hit by a snowstorm here, but nothing like you or [livejournal.com profile] sunshine_twoare experiencing. The coldest I think it will get here is -4. I want to stay inside and read and watch videos, but Dobby wants to go romp around in the snow, and we all know who is the master of this house.

I also hope the bread baking went well!

That's a good problem to have--figuring out what size shirt to get! Go you on your health & fitness goals!I
The temps have wildly cold, and where you're at ...seems insane! Stay warm and good job and keeping the animals fed & cared for!
Glad that the promised raise came through...about time, isn't it!
Seems I crave fresh baked bread when I read your posts....

As of today (Thursday, the 20)--there's just 27 days til the first day of spring! Of course, that means that it'll be cold/hot/cold/hot etc throughout most of April, but....spring is on it's way!!
