— we were finally getting to the very sloshy, very soggy part of winter where ground was visible and tenacious grass peeked through the mud and it was a joyous thing! then came this last storm. over seven inches of snow, wind, and all the progress towards a dry arena was lost.
ugh.
at least all the frozen-to-the-ground horse shit is covered up. =D SILVER LINING ALERT!
supposedly, we will be getting mid-to-high 50s on sunday and monday, so perhaps i'll see dirt (and poop) again soon.
— yesterday i took an opportunity between snow dumps to go snowshoeing for the first time. it was fun, a GREAT workout, and got me off the cleared parts of the property and into the woods. with the snowshoes i had (borrowed from a friend), i did sink a few times in the super powdery fluff, but i could tell it was far better than had i been in just regular snow boots.
after a bit of chatting with snowshoeing friends, i guess for this size shoe, relatively groomed trails are the best. same friends recommended skis for xcountry or backwood skiing. I DO NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE, but there is a ski that is basically a showshoe and ski combo. o.O I AM THERE....when they go on sale. =\
i do balk at paying for anything right now, because i still need a bridle for misty. and a sparkly browband. like this one:

— i'm still inching toward the BWLG and need just two more pounds to hit it. again, i don't think i'll make it this week (SIGH), but i should be there next weekish if i stick to the program and do what i know works. this sounds, at least in theory, easy peasy, right? well, it's not — especially with the weather keeping me inside with all the tasty things. ;) yesterday i (GASP) ate three slices of bread. HOW DARE I. lol
seriously, anymore that's a lot of bread for me. most weeks i don't eat that amount of bread for a whole week, which has led to a lot of success. :) to help mitigate the feeling that i'm bloated from all that processed flour, today and tomorrow are days of buckets of water and intermittent fasting.
if i feel a need for a third day, i'll do it.
we have healthy stuff for dinner (chicken tinga on greens and black beans) and tomorrow i'm making a copycat recipe for pf chang's lettuce wraps with tofu instead of chicken. fam will have real rice, i'll have cauliflower rice.
i'm so glad we have the ingredients for everything since driving to the store is problematic right now w/all the snow.
— ok. time to get back to cleaning and get some beans cookin'. and then some book reading. and some nail polishing. all while wearing my cuddle duds and a sweatshirt from my old school that swallows me and makes me feel scrawny. love that!
oh, as a wonderful victory is mine, huzzah! — i fit in two of kid's medium sweatshirts. =D they are obvs loose on her and a tad form fitting on me, but they fit well enough i'd be happy going out in them! i haven't fit in a medium in ages! woohoo! :)

Date: 2025-03-11 01:14 am (UTC)i'm the opposite — when i eliminate most carbs (i'll still get some from veggies and whole grains), i feel all good in my innards. I still do brown rice on occasion, wild rice more, and when i do indulge in pasta, i try to do the high-protein/chickpea stuff. :)
