my horse is making a bold fashion statement. =D

pics below...

so, yeah. who wore it best? ;)

her foot in the hay catch cracks me up.

her foot in the hay catch cracks me up.

+ mister is getting over his cold, girl is in the throes of hers, and i'm just hoping there is enough of my teacher-immunity left in me to keep me from getting it. like lm montgomery said, "a head cold in june is an immoral thing." plus, we have THINGS planned for the weekend! i don't want to be sick. :(

beyond that? still cruising along and enjoying my people and my place in life as much as i can. things are so good that i've found that negative things and people are much easier to identify, making them that much easier to excise.

snip and stitch, boo. snip and stich.

+ speaking of snip and stitch, i don't think i mentioned it at the time, but there was an urgent care visit more than a few weeks ago for me to get an invisible splinter removed from my finger. i know, i know. I KNOW.

but srsly, i had tried to get it out, mister tried, kid even had a poke to see if her sweet bebe eyes could discern it. generally speaking, i probably have a few splinters in me that have been surrounded by a callus to the point they're just part of me now — so i'm not a stranger to foreign objects being in me (that's what she said). but this bad boy was festering very strangely — no bubble around it of oozing stuff, inflammation in a large area, etc. after hurting my finger one too many times while tossing hay, i caved and off we went.

LOTS of digging and scraping (with a scalpel!) and the NP said she "thought" she had gotten it all. two days later it was sore and icky again and i just decided to put ointment (best word ever) on it, cover it with a band-aid, and deal with it. time went on and last week a round ball of callus sort of just fell off/out and now i have a divot where it was.

it's weird looking, but as of today? it isn't tender at all! yay!

+ i went to the thrift store and found a bathing suit top i really like — a blue polka dot tankini from lands end for a dollar. it's a size 10 so i didn't think it would fit me and planned on tossing it on poshmark for $15 or so. got it home and..........it fit. o.O

losing *any* amount of weight is a success in my book, but i'm seriously amazed at how hard i've killed that part of the journey. the working out part? not quite as dedicated as i'd like, but if i didn't have anything to improve on, i'd be perfect and how boring would that be? ;)

every morning when i wake up, i tell myself i'm going to follow [livejournal.com profile] kazzy_cee's inspirational advice at some point in the day, then at night — after 10K minimum steps, lifting, raking, mucking, arguing, wrangling, etc — i tell myself i'll do it the next day. FEH.

i'll get there. eventually. =D

+ we have not been to see the cousins in awhile, and i'm getting itchy. it's been super fun to go hang out and people watch and try to win money. last time we were there someone on a machine near us won $100,000+. that was super exciting! i need to save money, though. :( we are ordering the boots for both horses and that's a nice little chunk of $400+ i could do without spending, but it is what it is.

when steve from michigan (our farrier) came out, he said he thought bluebelle might have laminitis. so she's been on a NO GRAIN, NO GRAZE, HAY ONLY diet for about 4 days and has been getting stall rest. it's made a HUGE difference, so we're going to have to monitor and keep things going in the positive direction.

misty's lameness seems to have been replaced by a general inability to run attractively while wearing fly boots, but who can blame her?

+ ok, off to either a) update my goodreads list or b) play something with the kid. after that, it's time to write.

Yay for having a nice top!

No shame about the splinter. They can hurt so much!

Horse wins!

Taking credit for somebody else's idea is no more flattering to them than if you broke into their house and stole their TV.

OH yes, that horse is truly ready for the fashion show runway. Both my horses hated when I tried putting rugs on them, and shredded them, despite them living outside during winter. However Jaykub had no problems keeping his fly coat and full face on during the summer ... he must have rapidly realised that he ws no longer getting bitten bby the horse flies.
