— family bought me a cherry blossom pink stanley cup to replace my old water hauler that had finally given up the ghost: the handle fell off after repeated dropping and there were dents all over it. =D the fact they got me a stanley is funny to all of us, since it's just another accoutrement to my basic bitch outfit. now all i need is longer hair for a high and messy bun and a pair of pristine uggs and i'll be set for business.

[it may have been a practical gift, but there def is some gag gift vibe going on. I SAID VIBE. *sips from the stanley*]

— yesterday was a wash for getting more done for the board meeting, but that's ok. kid had an amazing lesson on an amazing horse and when we got home, i did a little bit of around the house work then took off with mister to duluth so we could get a costco shop in.

for the weekend we have:

~ continental bkfasts for everyone (sat, sun, mon)

~ lunches of naan, hummus, fruit, veggies (and some soup if i can swing it)

~ italian beef sandwiches (omg, beef is expensive now! this is for saturday dinner)

~ bbq burgers and sides (sunday)

everyone should be gone by noon on monday, so that will be an afternoon of resting up.

i'm probably going to make a few loaves of bread for snacking, so i think i have all the angles covered.

~ today is the big day of company prep, plus i am FINALLY able to go and get my minnesconsin DL. WOOHOO. next step? passaporta! canadia, here i come — i am going to have me some tim hortons and authentic poutine this year, i hope.

then again, i am personally thinking winter has arrived. we went from muggy hot to crisp and co(ld)ol in the blink of an eye. ONE BLINK. >.< ok, it's not COLD really, but for me, anything lower than 70 degrees F  (21 C) makes me think i need to pull out my electric blanket.

very few of my winter clothes from last season fit, so i need to start hitting thrift stores now to bulk up my cold weather wardrobe. i'm almost OK on socks (need some real wool ones), but discovered that there are HEATED vests and have decided i must have one or risk frost bite. i can make do with most of my coats but would like one that fits well for when we go out. pants? need. shirts? need. underlayers? for sure need.

last night at costco, i bought a few pairs of leggings (my very much go to in the fall....and always), a few really cute sweaters, and some gloves. none of this will be good for cold fall or really cold winter, but srsly....they're cute.

i'm still not 100% comfortable buying the more expensive winter stuff, because i don't want to have to buy MORE expensive winter stuff next winter when i have, i hope!, landed on my goal weight/size. in theory, i could buy the next size down when everything goes on sale in february/march, but that's a recipe for disaster.

so, the plan is to cobble together my winter garb and practice patience. UGH.

~ in november, there's a con in minnyapples that i really want to go to! why? BECAUSE MOST OF THE CAST FROM TEH MUMMY will be there!!!! that is my favorite movie of forever, and i swear — i think they imagined mister and i in early 20th century egypt and just went from there.

he is my o'connell. i am his evie.

what made me think of that was "practice patience." IYKYK

~ ok. i'm a hot mess of morning hair and face, so need to fix that a little to go get my license. i have a feeling i'm going to hate my photo, but don't care too very much.

i'm going to lie about my weight and just put my goal weight down. *shrug* i'll get there eventually. =D

you're so right about beef being pricey. About the only place I can ever get meat in general is discount grocery stores unless the regular grocery stores are having sales.
