don't mess with a country girl
Oct. 6th, 2025 08:21 pm~ dr. sexy and i met last week for my quarterly check-up and you gotta love a doctor that listens, thinks, and responds. i told him how crabby i've been that the last push toward my goal weight is taking what seems to be forEVER and he introduced me to the term "biological pushback" — which includes metabolism changes and caloric requirement changes and other things.
for awhile, i've been saying that i need to shake things up and even though i have and loss has picked up, it's slowed down AGAIN. this did not surprise dr. sexy and he encouraged me to up strength training and play with some different food choices for a few weeks to see what happens.
the one thing we both agreed on is that i might need to up calories; i'm averaging 1000-1200 a day, so maybe hit 1400-1500 BUT make sure they're the right calories, not the chocolate ones. ;)
he also gave me serious props again for being the odds against me to go from obese to "normal" weight — statistically, i'm a unicorn. RAINBOW FARTS!
~ therapist and i are grooving along. we only have had two sessions, but she's got some ideas to help with stress and to get back to writing. i approve of these things.
~ we finally, FINALLY have cool weather after a few weeks that felt like summer. o.O i hope the leaves do something more spectacular than they're doing now: we have a lot of yellow, but not as much russet and orange as i'm used to. where "used to" means i'm pulling from only two years of autumns here.
mister leaves for california in less than a week and when he gets back, we may do the train ride to see fall colors. how fun! it all hinges on what the leaves decide to do; if the colors suck, we can still do a train ride up to two harbors for the day which will be just as fun. (it's a different tour thing — this one we'll spend the day in town vs. just riding around looking at trees.)
in other news:
= a moose has been spotted in the vicinity and husband has mandated that i do not go looking for it. :(
= we have more eggs than we can get rid of. please come get some? :)
= i got in 15K steps today just in farm chores. o.O include all the lifting and shovelling and tossing and moving, and it's like a long day at the gym. except it's BETTER because i got to love on horses and chickens. :)
= mister is enouraging me to go back to school if i want. i want to stress that i actually LOVE school — learning, doing, arguing....it's my jam. if i do, i'm going to go back for a degree in art! it might be cheaper just to audit the classes i want, so we'll see.
= there are still apples to can. o.O it's never ending, yo! :)
= VS is having their 10 chonies for $40, so i'm stocking up! yay, chonies!

Date: 2025-10-07 07:15 am (UTC)Meh - calories are so dangerous - people think they just have to count them, but you can't rely on them. I know so many people who eat high fat, sweet stuff and say it's OK as they haven't gone over their calories *sigh*

Date: 2025-10-08 06:29 pm (UTC)exactly!!!! fifteen hundred calories of lean protein, veggies, complex carbs is WAY different than the same number of calories of chocolate, white bread, and butter.
now you know what chonies are!!! one of the best words ever. ;)

Date: 2025-10-07 11:44 am (UTC)When my sister has had an abundance of eggs, i made sheet pan "omelette" — i think i used 16 eggs to a sheet pan? and at the time i had asparagus and bell pepper but do whatever. And then i froze the little rectangles. They were fine for MONTHS and perfect for on sandwiches or on Wasa bread.
I have pondered eggs noodles, but lots of food safety stuff there to go argh about.

Date: 2025-10-08 06:31 pm (UTC)that is a brill idea about the sheet pan omelet....i'll try that! we have fresh tomatoes, peppers, and chives from the garden, so i'll use those up, too. (my chives went insane this year....they even choked out my cilantro.)
i may make a few pound cakes to give away or freeze, soon. or hell, cook them up and give them to the chickens.....they love them some scrambled eggs.

They could probably use them.

Date: 2025-10-08 06:33 pm (UTC)I feel like all I've been doing is making apple butter, and the crockpot is not keeping up. :( a friend made apple compote that was delightful, so i may try that! <3 this canning business is losing it's novelty pretty quickly. lol

Date: 2025-10-08 06:36 pm (UTC)i agree that writing can be art, for sure! but i'm thinking more visual arts — if i decided to actually get a degree in art, i'd focus on the textiles and ceramics path — love that stuff! we're signing up for a stained glass class in november, so you have me pegged, lol. that enameling stuff looks FUN! and such pretty jewelery.
one of my FAVORITE things to make is papercraft miniatures. i love itty bitty things. =D
