sometimes the flower, other times the weed

same ol' same ol': mister STILL didn't get the raise, our CA house STILL hasn't sold, and blah blah.
as far as his raise/promotion goes, i'm mostly sure it will happen, but jeez. these people move slowly.
as far as the house goes, we DID get two offers! the LA guy one and one from people in the community there. LA one we sent back a "since you are trying to sell your house yourself w/o an agent, we can't accept your offer until you have an accepted offer on your house" and the 2nd one? they backed out when their newbie agent told them the solar wasn't paid for and they'd have to pay it off/xfer the lease. still, it was an offer. a shitty one, but an offer. lol
we know that the solar is an issue with most buyers — it's why a number of people have walked. so what's the solution? apparently, raise the price by 20K and say we'll pay off the lease. which, if someone offers fullish price means we'd end up paying off half of the lease out of our pocket....which is what we said we'd do to begin with. makes NO sense to me, but whatever.
i'm just done.

i've always found it distasteful when people repeatedly insert what their job is into regular conversation. "as an attorney i'm super busy and you should bake bread at 375 degrees in a steamy oven."
i understand it's a blend of insecurity and trying to one-up, but still. meh. i don't CARE what you do for a living...i care what you read. =D
speaaaaking of books, i'm rereading /girl with a pearl earring/ because i am just having trouble finding things that hook me, so decided to go back to one of my favorites.
on tap i have:
/the secret diary of hendrik groen, 83 1/4 years old/ and volume 1 of /the foxfire book/.
what you got going word wise?

i have about a million things to do and no desire to do them. instead? i want to curl up with my book and remember how to breathe.

I need to embroider that on a pillow. 😀
I am between books now and gnashing my teeth.
So frustrating that they are holding off on hub's raise. But he will get it, & the CA house will sell.

Date: 2024-02-03 06:30 pm (UTC)it's a sentiment that's served me well. before the mister, i dated a guy who was super pretty and really smart....but he didn't read. i knew we were doomed when he said i had too many books.
i'm REALLY struggling with books right now. you know how there's LITERATURE and then LITERARY FICTION? and sometimes they overlap, but for my point, let's pretend they are completely separate. anyway, i just want literary fiction at this point — and it's a STRUGGLE. even really good genre fiction (which I love, but understand its limitations) would be OK.
what am i getting? bupkis. ugh.
so....since you're looking for a read, check out /the gargoyle (https://www.amazon.com/Gargoyle-Andrew-Davidson/dp/0307388670)/ — you might like it. OR OR OR, go for /night film (https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/18770398)/ which i REALLY loved, because it's weird and full of conspiracy and you never know what's real or not. loved that book x 10000. i liked that book so much i ended up buying 3 copies at off the deep discount table because it hurt me to see them there. lol
